Care Review Announced

On Saturday 15th October, at the SNP Conference 2016, Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that there would be a ‘root and branch review’ of the care system, driven by those who have experience of care.

The announcement by the First Minister signals one of the most profound commitments towards improving the care and protection of our children and young people – by putting young people at the heart of change while recognising and championing the need for loving, stable relationships.

As an organisation tasked with effecting transformational change for care experienced young people, the Life Changes Trust is delighted that this is being given the time and commitment it so deserves: this is a huge step in the right direction towards achieving  this. We look forward to working with the Government, and, crucially, with young people themselves through organisations such as Who Cares? Scotland to achieve this.

We are committed to working with care experienced young people, care leavers, practitioners and other professionals in Scotland so  that when young people leave care, they have positive life chances and outcomes just like other young people.
