£89,000 cash boost for young people’s service in West Dunbartonshire
A new project providing peer mentoring support for care experienced young people in West Dunbartonshire has been given the go-ahead thanks to a funding award of £89,000.
The new service will be delivered by local charity ‘Y Sort It’, a youth information and support network which delivers support and training for young people living in the area.
Peer mentoring is a dynamic way of helping young people with experience of being in care by offering support and guidance from someone who has been there too. This support can be vital for care experienced young people who often face significant obstacles in their lives and, as a group, face much poorer outcomes and quality of life than other young people.
