Deepness Ltd

Local Legacy Awards are funding local legacy partners to focus on two or more of three well-evaluated means of supporting people living with dementia and unpaid carers.

These are:

  • Dementia Friendly Communities
  • Peer Support
  • Meeting Centres

Local legacy partners will develop these three approaches, working with national legacy partners BOLD and About Dementia to share and embed learning across Scotland. This will include a true commitment to early evaluation, wide sharing of learning, learning from others, and seeking further ways to sustain this work beyond the funding of the Life Changes Trust.

Deepness Ltd was awarded £89,150 for a two-year legacy project running from March 2022 to January 2024. This project has received 25% match funding from Deepness Ltd.

With this funding, Deepness Ltd will expand its existing programs, such as Deepness Dementia Radio, Deepness Dementia Theatre Projects, Poetry in Motion and the Wellbeing College Project, and will develop a rural community peer-run project in the Western Isles. This will allow interconnectivity between those with dementia on the different islands and rural communities by creating both an online meeting place for people living with dementia and unpaid carers, as well as a peer-run meeting centre in Stornoway and satellite hubs.

They will work with professional writers, actors and producers to create creative opportunities for people with dementia to give voice to their experiences via music and theatre.

Deepness Ltd will also organise and run the second 100/6000 conference in 2022 around the theme of unconscious bias.
