Dementia Friendly Highlands

Dementia Friendly Highlands was awarded £130,000 in August 2017, to run until January 2019.

This project was a partnership between Dementia Friendly Communities (DFC) Helmsdale, Age Scotland and NHS Highland Public Health, and was based on a dementia inclusive model already developed and used by DFC Helmsdale (now known as Connecting Communities).

The project’s aim was to ensure that people with dementia and their families were included in their community, and that local activities existed so that they could continue to enjoy things that were meaningful to them, for as long as they wished to.  It also provided services such as ‘Dinner To Your Door’, Men’s Sheds and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Waters’, the latter of which provided support for carers.
