'I'll Always Be Here For You' by James McKillop
On the 31st August 2021, the Life Changes Trust held an online conference 'Community & Dementia: Creating Better Lives in Greater Glasgow and Clyde’. We opened the conference with a song by James McKillop, created using a peer-to-peer award.
James has a diagnosis of dementia, and lives in Glasgow.
Along with other people with a diagnosis, James has worked alongside the Life Changes Trust for many years and his advice and guidance has been invaluable to us.
James has many talents – writer, activist, public speaker, photographer…. but our conference ini Glasgow showcased James’ talent as a songwriter. He collaborated with Gus Harrower, a musician who works regularly with Capital Theatres in Edinburgh, and together they created this song, entitled ‘I Will Always Be Here For You.’
It’s performed by Gus, with lyrics by James, and it reminisces about how James felt when his baby daughter was born, and watching her grow up.
You can listen to the song, and hear James' reaction, below.
