Impact Arts

Impact Arts was awarded £345,634 for the period 2019 to 2022

The Life Changes Trust Home and Belonging initiative has been designed to provide an opportunity to re-imagine what a fulfilling future can look like for a young person with care experience once they move on from formal care, based around a safe, welcoming and personal space – their home.

It will support young people to find a strong sense of home and belonging in their own communities, recognising that “home is not a place, it is a feeling.” All of the projects take a service design approach, were designed with young people using creative approaches, and will involve young people with care experience in their delivery and evaluation.

The Make It Your Own programme, run by Impact Arts, is a creative solution to supporting key life transitions for young people with care experience, empowering them through skills development and the transformation of the space they live in to provide confidence and a sense of belonging and security. Make It Your Own will be delivered in Edinburgh, Glasgow, North Ayrshire and Renfrewshire.

Delivery of the project will include one-to-one appointments, weekly group sessions, drop-in sessions, group project workshops, welcome pack and starter pack (rollers; paint tray; measuring tape; paint; masking tape) and shopping trips where each individual will have a £150 budget.  Participants will engage in a person-centred process of identifying their vision of their home, designing and planning projects, creating items or completing decorating projects. Make It Your Own participants will be able to realise their own individual vision and they can gain skills and connect with the wider community through group-based workshops focused on specialist or general subjects, and group-led projects.

This project will be carried out in partnership with Renfrewshire Collaborative, Quarriers, Throughcare/Aftercare/Leaving Care services and Housing Associations.
