Our Connected Neighbourhoods Stirling and Forth Valley

Our Connected Neighbourhoods was awarded £223,244 in August 2017, to run until July 2020.

Our Connected Neighbourhoods (OCN), based at the University of Stirling, focuses on creating dementia inclusive communities by identifying the strengths of neighbourhoods and connecting these together for greater capacity and sustainability.

OCN is built around core themes. These are a starting point to develop more inclusive communities and create participatory neighbourhoods where people living with dementia are supported to remain socially, physically, culturally and politically active.

The core themes are being included in the community, arts & culture - which are central to the project’s ideas of citizenship and community - technology, which can actively enable and support inclusion, and the environment which means understanding how people living with dementia experience their physical environments.

This project gives people with dementia and their families a voice to shape their neighbourhoods and the services that link them, as well as supporting them to remain active in their own communities.
