Playlist for Life

Local Legacy Awards are funding local legacy partners to focus on two or more of three well-evaluated means of supporting people living with dementia and unpaid carers.

These are:

  • Dementia Friendly Communities
  • Peer Support
  • Meeting Centres

Local legacy partners will develop these three approaches, working with national legacy partners BOLD and About Dementia to share and embed learning across Scotland. This will include a true commitment to early evaluation, wide sharing of learning, learning from others, and seeking further ways to sustain this work beyond the funding of the Life Changes Trust.

Playlist for Life was awarded £ 144,387 for a three-year legacy project running from March 2022 to March 2025. This project has received 8% match funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and 16% match funding from the organisation’s own reserves.

Through an approach based around dementia friendly communities and peer support, Playlist for Life aims to build a strong, collaborative national network of Help Points and Music Labs. They will grow the Help Point network to at least 680 Help Points across Scotland, deliver training to 1,200 community volunteers, and give them the resources to directly support up to 12,000 people living with dementia.

They will also deliver three annual Help Point conferences bringing Help Point volunteers and service users together to celebrate their successes, share best practice, and build the relationships needed to maintain a supportive peer support network.
