Relationships First was awarded £237,032 funding in July 2018 to run until June 2021
The Trust's Young People with Care Experience programme offered funding for projects that focussed on strengthening the knowledge and skills of the paid and voluntary workforce, so that they are more able to meet the needs and aspirations of care experienced young people. We call this 'Workforce Development'. The specific aims of the funding are to support the paid and voluntary workforce to put love and relationships at the heart of the care system, and to build a sense of shared purpose with young people.
The 'Relationships First' project, run by Designed by Society, aims to enable young people and members of the workforce in Falkirk to design leaving care services that put love and relationships at the heart of service provision. The project will create opportunities for people with care experience and a range of children’s and adult’s services providers to learn about service design and systems leadership together and to be supported to create their own ‘Co-Design Crew’. The project will then deliver 6 to 7 service design initiatives, focussing on improving the current leaving care services.
There is a strong focus on strengthening the knowledge and skills of the paid and voluntary workforce so that they are more able to meet the needs and aspirations of young people with care experience. Young people will be involved in shaping the project as it develops in a number of ways, including being part of the decision-making process to influence which service design ideas will be voted on, and having an equal vote as a member of the Co-Design Crew as to which service design project ideas are taken forward.
This project is run in partnership by Designed by Society and Falkirk Council.
