tide (Together in Dementia Everyday)

Together in Dementia Every Day (tide) was awarded £1,383,676 to run from March 2017 to February 2021.

tide is a national involvement network for carers and former carers of people with dementia, hosted by the Life Story Network CIC. The National Lottery Community Fund currently funds the tide network in the north of England.

The project aims to deliver a carers development programme. It is designed to be supportive, flexible, enabling and coordinated, to give carers practical skills, as well as emotional and psychological support to enable them to share their experiences constructively.

This network brings together carers of people with dementia, not only to build their own peer support systems, but also to give them the tools and confidence to voice their needs and influence policy and practice. This will in turn improve their experiences as unpaid carers, as well as the services available to those they care for.

The benefits of this project are multiple. Carers are connected with each other, creating a peer support and involvement network, their value in society as unpaid carers of people with dementia is recognised, and they are better supported.
