Young People with Care Experience Advisory Group - Evidence and Learning

Matter of Focus was appointed to carry out an independent evaluation of the Life Changes Trust Advisory Group (Young People with Care Experience Programme) at the beginning of 2020.  The evaluation looks at the impact of the Advisory Group, and good practice around co-production.

The Advisory Group all have their own experience of care. The Advisors volunteer their time to provide advice, and develop and deliver work on specific projects and initiatives which drive transformational improvements in the lives of young people with care experience.

Learning event

The Life Changes Trust aims to get alongside young people so that they can be influential, build strong relationships and exercise their rights.  We believe that people are experts by unique experience and that the voice of lived experience is the key to transformational change.

In 2016, the Trust's Young People with Care Experience Programme established an Advisory Group. The Group had been running for four years when Matter of Focus was selected to carry out an independent evaluation of its impact and learning at the beginning of 2020.

On the 23rd November, the Trust will hold an online learning event to share the findings of the evaluation report, and to hear from the advisors themselves just what it meant – and felt like – to be part of the group.

If you would like to attend the event, you can register here

With the support of Media Co-op, the group made – and starred in – a film, in which they talk about their work with the Trust, how they grew in confidence, skill and influence and how their work has impacted on them, the Life Changes Trust as a funder, as well as on policy and practice more generally.

The film will be unveiled at the event, but if you want a sneaky peak, have a look below.

The Advisory Group has an inspiring story to tell. Don’t miss the event on the 23rd!
